Regulations for users of the Raseborg/Raasepori Public Library PDF Print E-mail

1. The library is open for everybody.

Inhabitants of Raseborg/Raasepori, summer-guests and temporary visitors are all welcome.

  • We provide that you follow common order and take other users into account for instance by using mobile phones discreetly. Staff members can order persons who disturb other visitors to leave the premises. A visitor can be expelled for a certain period due to bad conduct.
  • The public computers are available with certain time and age restrictions.

2. The right to borrow is granted to everybody with a valid library card.

2.1. The library card

  •  The library card is personal and is always needed when you borrow an item.
  • The first card is free; a new card costs 2 €.
  • Children who go to school or have reached the age of seven may have their own library card. For children under thirteen the signature of a guardian is required on the application form.
  • In order to acquire a library card you need to present a valid ID card as well as fill out an application form, which also means agreeing to follow the regulations of the library.
  • The common Lukas-library card is valid at all libraries in Raseborg/Raasepori, Hanko/Hangö, Ingå/Inkoo and Siuntio/Sjundeå.

2.2. The responsibility of a user

  • You are personally responsible for items that are borrowed on your card. You are required to compensate for lost or damaged items.
  • Notify the library immediately if your card is lost! The card will then be blocked.
  • Notify the library if your name, home address, e-mail address or phone number is changed.
  • Borrowed items must be returned within the loan period. If the loan period is exceeded, the user pays the overdue charge set by the city’s committee responsible for the library.
  • You are personally responsible for the use of information provided by the library.

2.3. Charges

  • Overdue charges. An overdue reminder costs 2 €. By the third overdue reminder, the user is required to compensate for the material according to given specifications, or return the material and pay the overdue charges. A charge becomes effective as soon as the reminder has been processed and shall be paid when the material is returned.
  • Lost or damaged items are compensated for according to a separately specified price.

2.4. Withdrawal of privileges

becomes effective by the third overdue reminder or when the total unpaid charges exceed 10 €. The withdrawal concerns all Lukas-libraries.
